What are stretch Marks ?

Stretch marks are often the result of the rapid stretching of the skin associated with rapid growth or rapid weight changes. Stretch marks may also be influenced by hormonal changes associated with puberty, pregnancy, bodybuilding, hormone replacement therapy, etc. Medical terminology for these kinds of markings includes striae atrophicae, vergetures, stria distensae, striae cutis distensae, lineae atrophicae, linea albicante, or simply striae. Stretch marks formed during pregnancy, usually during the last trimester, and usually on the belly, but also commonly occurring on the breasts, thighs, hips, lower back and buttocks, are known as striae gravidarum

What do they look like?

They first appear as reddish or purple lines, but tend to gradually fade to a lighter range. The affected areas appear empty and are soft to the touch.Stretch marks occur in the dermis, the resilient middle layer that helps the skin retain its shape. No stretch marks will form as long as there is support within the dermis. Stretching plays more of a role in where the marks occur and in what direction they run. Stretching alone is not the cause.

Where do they appear?

Stretch marks can appear anywhere on the body, but are most likely to appear in places where larger amounts of fat are stored. Most common places are the abdomen (especially near the navel), breasts, upper arms, underarms, back, thighs (both inner and outer), hips, and buttocks. They pose no health risk in and of themselves, and do not compromise the body’s ability to function normally and repair itself.

What treatments are available to treat stretch marks ?

If stretch marks are worrying you, there is a solution. We offer a non-ablative, no downtime, gentle and warming treatment to diminish those unsightly scars from all areas of the body. Clearlift 4D works over a relatively short period of time to achieve results.

The treatment is very gentle, there is absolutely no pain or downtime and Clearlift 4D is brilliant not only for stretch marks but also for fine lines, wrinkles, crepe skin, Melasma, pigmentation, open pores, all types of scars, under eye puffiness/dark circles and more.

Prices start at £70 for a small area.

The best way to treat these imperfections is to exfoliate and hydrate the skin. By using a good resurfacing exfoliator in your daily routine and combining it with a nourishing repair serum, you can dramatically improve the appearance of stretch marks.

The ZO Oraser Body Emulsion Plus is the best body product available without a prescription. With ingredients like retinol, ceramides and emollients, it prevents moisture loss and allows your skin to regain its youthful appearance, texture and tone. Plus, the formulation contains an antioxidant-rich complex with lactic acid to soften rough patches. The Body Emulsion Plus works to perfectly exfoliate, hydrate and nourish for revived and smoother looking skin.
