Launched in October 2013 by Antonia Mariconda, the Safety in Beauty campaign is a response to the growing dissatisfaction and devastation caused by dubious treatments, and was formed by a group of like-minded professionals and experts.
The Safety in Beauty campaign seeks to:
- Help, educate and empower consumers
- Facilitate a better, safer, more transparent industry
- Offer much-needed support
- Give peace of mind to everyone seeking to improve their looks
The Safety in Beauty Campaign supports member of the public by allowing them limited FREE access to emotional, legal and medical advice and support. The campaign is run by voluntary supporters and professionals who do not receive any financial renumeration for the time and services that they generously give for the greater good of the campaign objectives.

What makes a Safety in Beauty short list nominee?
Shortlisting is based on the principle that each nominee meets at least 5 criteria points, which are listed in the categories below.

- Knowledge
- Specialist training,
- Demonstrating a clear dedication to the refinement and advancement of a particular specialty, skill or interest.
- Continuous professional development.
- Creating and implementing training schemes, courses and workshops for the purposes of education, learning and development for the industry and colleagues
The Patient or Customer Experience
- Reputation
- Clinical outcomes
- Record keeping
- Recommendations
- Hygiene and Safety compliancy
- Patient or client feedback
- Consistent growth in track record
- Dedication to whole patient experience being positive
- Examples of safeguarding clients and patients with compliance matters, (patch testing etc)
- Published on-line material or documentation and paperwork explaining procedures, products and treatments offered.
- Insurance clearly displayed or available when asked for
- Outstanding aftercare packages or advice and support
- Good practice.
Media Proactive
- Proactive in sharing news, opinions and creating awareness in mainstream media or via social media
- Writing blogs, sharing articles and video’s for the purposes of creating awareness and educating on safety
Independent and Proactive
- Creating awareness via own forms of activities such as independent self formed campaigns or creating and distributing petitions
- Supporting charitable causes that raise awareness of safety in health and beauty
- Reporting incidences of bad practice or unsafe practice to relevant authorities such as GDC, GMC and NMC, ASA, CQC
Charitable Endeavour and Pro Bono Work
Professionals, brands, and business activities that have given up a significant amount of their fee earning time, to help charitable cases, at no cost whatsoever.
Pro-bono work, UK or worldwide.
*Judges are given 2 non conflict categories each
*A private, non-disclosed public judging panel of 12 people, are also involved in the judging process, *mystery shopping
